Oriental Park Kolo Mee 东方花园 @Market Lane / Gertak Lane, Kuching

Address: Market Lane or Gertak Lane, 93000 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Monday - Sunday 7:00am - 11:00am

I have been wanting to try out Oriental Park's kolo mee for long time. Always thought it's not open on Monday so I kept on delaying. Until last Sunday, I searched online and found out they are actually open everyday. I invited my bro to go on next morning. They close at 11am, we reached there around 10:30am.

Oriental Park is quite hidden, its location is not facing the main road. It took me sometime to locate it. The parking space there also very limited. We parked our car at Open Air market, walked less than 5 minutes to reach. If you noticed All Joy Bakery on Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Oriental Park is just on the lane behind it.

We sat and waited for them to take our order. The serving time was real fast. My bro commented that the uncle looks slow in motion, but surprisingly the food served fast. The waiting time less than 10 minutes.

I ordered the red kolo mee. So nice that they served with a bowl of soup too. My kolo mee was tasted sweet because of the char siew oil. The texture of the noodles was great, met my expectation. Best is their famous char siew meat, charcoal smell and tastes like "bakkwa", the dried meat.

My bro ordered the big bowl of 'straight' noodles kolo mee without char siew oil. I prefer his one because still not getting used to the sweet taste of kolo mee. There's a price hike again lately, the price of kolo mee has increased to RM4 from RM3.50. A big bowl of this kolo mee costs RM5.50.

This is Market Lane. The lane is narrow, yet the car parked on the road side making it even more challenging to pass through.

Ah Zhi Fish Head Noodles 阿志鱼头米粉 @Top 10 Food Court, Jalan Song, Kuching

Address: 8 & 9, Ground Floor, Tabuan Heights Commercial Centre, Jalan Song, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Tuesday - Sunday 6:30am - 11:30am (Monday off)

Some days I would like to have something light and healthy for breakfast. I used to like Ayuke's tomato fish mix soup a lot. Its soup was really appetizing. Ayuke Fish Chef originated at Top 10 Food court before it moved to the current location. New vendor took over the stall and selling the same dishes. The taste is equally good, however the ingredients have altered a bit. Though less variety of ingredients, the freshness of the fish is guaranteed and always maintained the standards over the years. Elderly would love this type of fish soup.

Fish Meat Bihun. This is my favourite, its soup base is a bit sour because of the tomato. The fish ball is bouncy, fried fish cakes and taufu are also rich in flavour.

This am I had Fresh Fish Meat Bihun. The soup was plainer as compared to the above. It's not sour, but you won't taste the offensive fishy smells because of its top freshness. The fish ball was different from what I thought, not just a plain fish ball. Guess the fish meat has been seasoned so its taste has a little bit of sourness. A bowl of this, costs RM10.

Soon Huat Coffee Cafe 顺發咖啡小食館 @Jalan Batu Lintang, Kuching

Address: No. 12, Jalan Batu Lintang, 93200 Kuching, Sarawak.
Business hours: Monday - Sunday 6:00am - 6:00pm

The other day wanted to have the kolo mee at Joo Seng Cafe, but it was too full. So we randomly chose a coffeeshop nearby. Settled our brunch at Soon Huat Coffee Cafe. It was totally out of my expectation, the taste was not bad too.

Mix pork soup with noodles. The soup is flavourful because of its ingredients which contained taufu, meat balls, pork mince meat, pork liver, pork intestines, etc.

A closer look of the soup.

Ordered a bowl of kolo mee too. The texture was springy but rather dry.

Fam's 范圆 @Jalan Song, Kuching

Location: Jalan Song, Tabuan Heights, Kuching (Next to Noodle Expert)
Business hours: (update later)

Sorry for not updating my blog last week as I am more cautious with my food intake now. Cut down carbo and sugar intake. Don't have much healthy choice when I choose to dine out. This place has been my regular place for brunch on Monday. A brunch for two pax, generally within RM20 including drinks (1 meat, 1 soup with veges, 2 white rice). Not the cheapest but compared to the last regular place, this place is still within our budget.

There have variety of dishes to choose from. Our favourite combination is always salted fish pork and ABC pork ribs soup. Black pepper pork rice is also not bad as it comes with fried egg.

There also have dumplings. Tastes not bad too.

This is the ABC soup, RM6.50 including rice. Contains white radish, carrot, pork ribs, potato and corn.

Salted fish pork. This is my bro's favourite. It goes well with rice, trust me.

The white radish soup. The pork ribs in the soup is not hard to chew. If you want to go for healthier lunch, you can opt this.

Hakka salt-baked chicken. Every time I came here, this dish always out of stock as the vendor only prepared it with limited quantity. Recently the vendor has increased the quantity so we managed to try it out. Unlike the ordinary chicken rice, the chicken meat is slightly dry, no water added because it's baked with salt. It tastes delicious though. Worth to have a try.

I have to use Noodle Expert's map for the time being as Fam's has not reviewed in Google map yet.
